At 17 Laura started EarthenWear Jewellery with £100 birthday money. Initially experimenting with different styles of jewellery, she quickly discovered that it was flower preservation pieces that really caught her imagination.
Initially focusing purely on Orchid pieces, she started experimenting with other flowers to meet customer requests. We now work with a wide range of flowers and take on custom commissions too.
Laura
Laura always had a love for making, this was actively supported by her grandmother who was part of the Towns Womens Guild. Sewing, baking, knitting (badly) and playing jewellery shops with her bead collection.
Growing up surrounded by Orchids, it was no surprise that Laura's creative nature turned to flowers. With four greenhouses in her backgarden and two generations actively involved in the Thames Valley Orchid Society, it was inevitable.
Laura loves to experiment with techniques and making small one off collections showing off her latest focus. Wirework, chain making and silver smithing are her passions.
Alison
After two years of chauffer duties and market assistant, Alison promoted herself to full partner. She brought with her a love of gemstones and is responsible for bringing many of our one of a kind designs to life.
For Alison, flowers evoke memory. Reminding her of her childhood growing up in the countryside of Mapledurham. Violets for her mother, Poppies for her father, and Orchids for a beloved uncle.
